A system containing medium for selection and enumeration of yeasts & moulds.
Selection and enumeration of yeasts and moulds on surfaces and in foodstuffs and other specimens of sanitary significance. The medium can be used for: high acid food stuffs, low acid foodstuffs, dairy products, dehydrated products.
Each kit comprises
Plastic tube container hermetically sealed.
Plastic paddle (9cm2) coated with culture medium on both sides.
Plastic cap that may be taken apart from paddle.
Store at 15-25 °C. Protect from light.

Agar 16, Yeast Extract 5 (CONDA–Spain); Dextrose 10 (MERCK-Germany);
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 0.1 (SIGMA). (ISO/DIS 6611)
The medium composition including yeast extract provides essential growth nutrients. Dextrose acts as carbon and energy source. The low pH reduces the bacterial flora. Oxytetracycline makes the medium selective by inhibiting the growth of Lactobacilli encountered dairy products at low pH.
1. Follow recommended procedures in the Instructions for Use.
2. If the product has been refrigerated, allow it to return to room temperature before sampling and incubate aerobically at the recommended conditions.
Interpretation of Results
Yeast: Grow good. Creamy white to cream colonies. Moulds: Grow good. Colonies may be coloured, velvety or powdery to fluffy.
For the dipping method: The sensitivity of the test is from 1×103 cfu/gr or ml.
Used contaminated test material should be handled by standard decontamination methods.
